Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data Fliko collects when you use our messaging-based video editing service, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. Written to be read, not skimmed past.

1. Who we are

Fliko (“Fliko”, “we”, “us”) provides an automated video editing service that operates through messaging platforms. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at privacy@fliko.app.

2. Data we collect

  • Account data. Your name, email address, messaging handle or phone number, and billing details processed by our payment provider. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Content you send. Video and audio files, images, and the text instructions you send in the chat thread, plus the edited files we generate from them.
  • Usage data. Timestamps, number and type of edits, feature usage, device and browser type, approximate location derived from IP address, and error logs.
  • Support data. Anything you send us when you contact support.

3. How we use it

  • To process your videos and deliver the edited result to you.
  • To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
  • To handle billing, subscriptions, and refunds.
  • To send service messages. Marketing email is opt-in and every message includes an unsubscribe link.
  • To comply with legal obligations and to detect fraud, abuse, or illegal content.

4. Legal bases (UK/EU users)

We rely on contract to provide the service you signed up for; legitimate interests to secure and improve the service; consent for optional analytics and marketing; and legal obligation where the law requires us to retain or disclose data.

5. Training and machine learning

We do not use your videos to train our models by default. If we ever offer a programme where you can contribute content for model improvement, it will be opt-in, clearly described, and revocable at any time. Aggregated, non-identifying statistics (for example, average render duration) may be used to improve the service.

6. Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us run Fliko: cloud hosting and storage, media transcoding, payment processing, error monitoring, and customer support tooling. They act on our instructions under written contracts. We do not sell your personal data or your content.

We may disclose data if legally required, or where necessary to protect our rights, users, or the public.

7. Storage and retention

  • Source and edited media: deleted 30 days after the edit completes, or immediately when you delete the thread.
  • Account and billing records: retained for the life of your account and for up to 7 years afterwards where tax or accounting law requires it.
  • Logs: retained for up to 90 days.

8. International transfers

Our infrastructure is hosted in the European Union and the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

9. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted, logged, and protected by multi-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you and the relevant regulator of a qualifying breach without undue delay.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your data, to receive a portable copy, and to withdraw consent. Email privacy@fliko.app and we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).

11. Cookies

Our website uses strictly necessary cookies for authentication and preferences (including your light/dark theme choice). Analytics cookies are set only with your consent and can be withdrawn at any time.

12. Children

Fliko is not intended for anyone under 13, or under 16 in the EEA and UK. We delete accounts we learn belong to children below these ages.

13. Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top and notify you by email or in-product notice before the changes take effect.
